Territory Storm set to compete at Australian Netball Championships
A Northern Territory representative netball team is set to return to the national stage for the first time since 2019 in a decision labelled as “important”. Here are the key details.

The Northern Territory’s senior netball team is set to be back on the national stage.
It has been confirmed the Territory Storm will compete in the Australian Netball Championships next month in Queensland.
The Storm’s return will mark the first time the NT has been represented at the competition, formerly known as the Australian Netball League, for the first time since 2019.
Netball NT’s executive officer, Penny Shearer, expressed her excitement for the Storm’s competition return.
“Our Territory Storm program provides an important opportunity for our athletes to continue to develop within the Australian pathway against the best in the country,” she said.
“Our Darwin and Alice Springs athletes have been working hard and are looking forward to showcasing their skills come August.”
The Storm will compete alongside 10 other teams in Moreton Bay including Thunderbirds Futures, as well as the Firebirds Futures, Capital Darters, Collingwood Magpies, GIANTS Netball Academy, QBE Swifts Academy, Sunshine Coast Lightning Bolts, Tasmania Wild, Victorian Fury and the West Coast Fever Reserves.
“For the first time since the competition’s inception, we are thrilled 11 teams will participate in the 2023 Australian Netball Championships,” Netball Australia’s executive general manager of high performance Stacey West said.
“The event plays such an important role in the development of our athletes, coaches, umpires and officials.
“Furthermore, it provides a key transition pathway for emerging talent to be identified and selected for the under-21 Australian squad, and feed into the world’s best netball league, the Suncorp Super Netball League.”
The 2023 Australian Netball Championships will be available to watch live, on-demand and free via Kayo Freebies.
