The Northern Territory gymnastics championships has been run and won for 2024.
More than 200 competitors from across the NT took part in the annual event over three days, across six disciplines in what was an action-packed affair.
Lyla Gray from Elemental shone in the rhythmic gymnastics while Ayda Brooks and Kirsty Foster were the top duo in the acrobatic team event.
Matthew Walmsley topped the men’s all-round event as the NT’s highest level gymnast Armanie Boonsmerook wowed the crowd with a Tsukahara vault in the women’s, taking out the top spot in the process.
Despite the great turnout, GNT chief executive Jayde Martin is still eager to boost the participation rate among the boys/men, but was thrilled with the meet nonetheless.
“It would be fantastic to see a few more boys out on the competition floor, especially with the recent success of the Australian athletes at the Olympics,” Martin said.
“We are so proud of all of our clubs and athletes who have been so dedicated. Watching all of the great performances this weekend, it is clear that the hard work is paying off.”
