Two new champions have been crowned after hitting their way to NT Junior International Titles.
The second of back-to-back tournaments on the courts at Marrara, the nation’s top young talent and some international challengers went head-to-head during last week during the week long event.
Sixth seed Georgia Campbell won the girl’s title after defeating fourth seed and slight favourite Audrey Aulia 6:2, 6:3.
Campbell kicked off the final with venom, controlling the flow of the game from start to finish.
Second seed Ashton McLeod knocked off third seed Cameron Burton in the boy’s singles, fighting back from a first set loss. McLeod rallied to win 4:6, 6:1, 6:3.
Alice Stephens and Ava-Monet Sycamore claimed victory in the girls doubles, while Bryan Dickson and Michael Smith claimed their second championship in consecutive events.
“The level of tennis is incredibly high, and wonderful to see live and up close right here at the Darwin International Tennis Centre at Marrara,” Tennis NT CEO Tania Tandora said.
“As a team, we are all proud that the NT is able to stage excellent events that attract fantastic players and are fun to attend.
“The players and their entourages were very impressed with the facilities, officials, ballkids and the standard here – they are ready for their next chance to come back again to play.”
