Three Territorians will represent the nation this week as they take on the 2024 Oceania Championships.
Held in Suva, Fiji, June 4-8, the athletes have been selected as part of the Regional Australia Team.
Comprised of athletes who live 200km or more from a ‘major’ city, the team is a pathway for developing athletes and potential Olympic hopefuls.
“Aviva, Romone & Emily have trained hard in the lead up to this championship with their respective coaches,” Athletics NT chief executive Leanne Chin said.
“They will represent the NT well and we are very proud to see them compete on an international stage.”
AVIVA DAMJANOVIC
Age: 20
Events: Open 100m, 200m, and 100m Hurdles
The ‘only’ hurdler in the NT, Damjanovic has been involved in athletics since a kid. A very competitive and driven individual, Damjanovic holds numerous Territory records and has experience on the big stage, having recently competed at the 2024 Australian Nationals.
ROMONE LEWIN
Age: 24
Events: Open Para 100m, 200m, Long Jump and Javelin
A talented all-rounder, Lewin has his sights set on the top. Having recently been accepted into the Territory Sports Futures Academy, the athlete has been training down the house in preparation for the Championships.
EMILY HATTON
Age: 17
Events: U18 Long Jump, Triple Jump
The least experienced of the three, the long jumper is improving each time she takes to the track. Her first major event, Hatton will look to come away with two new pbs if all goes to plan.
