A CHAMPION team of U12s girls from the Wanderers Football Club have won their first game of the year in the mixed Division 3 competition.
The 13-point win against Palmerston on Friday evening was six weeks in the making, with coach Liam Musgrave confident his girls would break through sooner rather than later.
“They really excel at the ‘for each other’ component of Aussie rules. Their tackling and commitment is absolutely ferocious,” he said.
“The last few games we’ve led at quarter time and the girls have thought they could win the game.”
Under 12s player Chanelle Fejo said the team would work even harder with the confidence they could win every week.
“Towards the end everybody was cheering so loud so we thought we were going to win,” she said.
