ST MARYS Football Club’s indigenous and Tiwi roots will be on display on the field, with a new clash strip designed to be worn during the 2019/2020 season.
The predominantly yellow clash strip with a green sash was designed by renowned Tiwi artist Jennifer “Lulu” Coombes, who had previously designed Hawthorn Football Club’s famous pukamani poles indigenous jumper.

Ms Coombes said it was special to have been approached to design the jumper for the club she once played for.
“I used to play for St Marys and one of my sons is playing in the premier league team,” she said.
“It’s pretty special to see him and other nephews and nieces playing in both mens and women’s premier league teams.”

The design itself represents the strength and culture of the club through the spear, while the Tiwi patterns symbolise the club’s past, present and future players, as well as the coaches, volunteers and families who are the framework of St Marys.
