PINT’s Jessie Baumer booted four goals in her side’s win over Palmerston to secure the Queenants first ever appearance in the semi-finals of the Women’s Premier League.

The Queenants rushed to an early lead though were forced to hold on in the second half as Palmerston creeped back into the game.

The 27-year-old Baumer, who is in her first season of NTFL footy, was a big factor in the win with her haul of goals proving enough to see her side win by just two points.

“It was incredible to win, it was probably the best game I’ve ever played,” Baumer told the NT News.

“We were ahead early but it became so hectic at the end. Though it was all made worthwhile when I saw the smiles on all the girl’s faces and the tears of joy.”

Playing coach Katie Streader was particularly pleased with her goal-scorer who has scored 17 goals so far this season.

“Every week she’s gaining more and more in confidence and continues to impress us,” Streader said.

“We knew the game against Palmerston would be a challenge but we remained composed and the girls really adapted to them.

“Girls were feeling confident in their roles and confident in each other. There were numbers in the contest and we played a nice united game.”

PINT will now face the reigning champions Waratah and will hope to bring the form that saw them leading at the end of the third quarter against Tahs in Round 16.

“We’re nervous but also quietly confident. Last time we played them (a 14-point loss to the Warriors) was the best PINT has ever played against them,” Baumer said.

“We were ahead at three quarter time so we just need to play the whole game this time round. Everyone is excited to give it a crack and reach the grand final which has never happened for us before.”
