NTFL 2024-25: St Mary’s and Nightcliff to face off in Round 1 grand final rematch

The AFLNT has unveiled its fixtures for the 2024-25 NTFL season, in what is expected to be an action-packed season of Top End Aussie rules.

The men’s premier league will kick off with a bang at TIO Stadium, with a blockbuster Round 1 match between reigning premiers St Mary’s and Nightcliff under lights on October 4.

Then the excitement will ramp up the day after with a Saturday triple header including a heavyweight clash between Waratah and Southern Districts.

The highly-anticipated women’s premier league grand final rematch between PINT and St Mary’s takes place in Round 3 on October 19.

This coming season will see more Friday night games across multiple venues, allowing fans to enjoy the excitement of footy under lights across the Darwin region.

Each premier league club with a home ground will host six games throughout the season ensuring local fans can rally behind their teams on familiar turf.

Another key date is the 2024 AFLW Dreamtime match between Essendon and Richmond, which takes place at TIO Stadium alongside Round 4.

This historic clash will bring together the best of AFLW and NTFL football in a celebration of Territory football.

Following the Christmas break, footy fans can look forward to a weekend of intense footy action with double headers on both Saturday and Sunday evenings, all at TIO Stadium.

The finals series will kick off on February 21, with all matches hosted at TIO Stadium and the grand final pencilled in for March 15.

Head of AFL Northern Territory Sam Gibson said the anticipation for the return of Top End footy would “undoubtedly energize the entire community”.

“I want to thank all our corporate partners for their continued support,” he said.

“Your contributions help us, our clubs, and our umpires ensure that our competition remains strong and vibrant.

“Additionally, our appreciation goes out to our clubs, volunteers, umpires, and coaches for their hard work in the off-season. Your dedication is key to making this another outstanding season.”

NTFL competition lead Gavin May said they were thrilled to unveil the 2024-25 fixtures for what should be another packed season.

“This season as always promises to be packed with thrilling footy, and intense rivalries,” he said.

“We can’t wait for supporters to experience the excitement of every game and support their teams throughout the season.”

Memberships for the season are now available for purchase with fans able to choose from a TIO Stadium Pass or a Premium Access Pass, to gain access to every NTFL match.

Senior and Junior fixtures will be announced in mid-September, following team registrations.
