ABBEY Holmes will be shooting for a piece of Australian football history today as the NTFL showcases women's football on centre stage.

The Waratahs forward, 23, is on the brink of becoming the first player from any women's league in the country to kick 100 goals in a single season.

Holmes holds nearly every record imaginable in the NTFL competition since pulling on the boots for the first time in the 2012-13 season.

She broke the record for most goals in a women's season last year with 67 - including nine in the Warriors's grand final win over St Marys - in her first full season of senior football.

Possessed with lightning speed, strength in contests and an accurate kick that has terrorised opponents for two seasons, Holmes also broke the record for most goals in a single game (12) in Round 1.

She took it to another level with a huge haul of 16.5 during a 202-0 smashing of Southern Districts five weeks later.

Holmes has averaged 7.5 goals from her 12 matches this season and needs nine more against Nightcliff today to reach the ton.

But she will have to do it against her sister, Georgia, who plays for the Tigers.

Holmes said it would mean a lot to kick her 100th against a club where she has strong family and friendship ties.

"If there was any team I'd want to kick 100 against, it would be Nightcliff," she said.

"I did set out to achieve it at the start of the season, so to be so close is awesome.

"But I don't want to count all my apples before it happens. I just want to get there." The NTFL has scheduled every Youth Girls and Women's matches on TIO Stadium's No. 1 oval from 9am today to celebrate Women's Round.

The Waratahs and Nightcliff clash will be the last match played at 6pm.

Georgia, 25, said she wouldn't mind if her sister booted her side's only nine goals of the game - if the Tigers kick 10 and win.

"She has always been an over-achiever and this is just another one to put on the mantle, so I'm used to it," she laughed.

"But obviously I'm so proud of her.

"It's a pretty big deal to be the first in the country to do anything, it's amazing.

"We all love her at Nightcliff and we would all celebrate with her if she kicks 100, but at the same time we can't let her have too many."
