“His run and carry was great,” Kossack told the NT News.
The Blues did not field a team last year due to a lack of playing numbers.
Kossack is proud of the way that has changed in the space of just 12 months.
“We recruited well in the off-season and we’ve now got a good core group of players, along with some experienced boys from Darwin” he said.
“Simon Crowden and Duane Von Senden are some good additions.
“And Gabriel Mulholland, Nick Fisher and Josh Lines in the ruck are some of our good younger players.
“I’m trying to implement an attacking style. I want to keep rebuilding and developing the team at training.
“I’m from Katherine, so I’m proud to see this team back and hopefully we can keep building.”
The Blues played in guernseys specially designed by player Deon Gordon.
“This design represents the Eastside footy club coming back into the comp this year. The dots around the logo are the players and the footprints are the players walking in. The outside dots are the supporters and all the important (coaches, president etc.) people that run the club,” the Blues club posted on its Facebook page.
Daniel Turner impressed in his 50th game for the club.
“He played pretty well and he’s one of our leaders in the midfield,” Kossack said.
Louis Campbell-Kossack and David Ward kicked three goals each for the victors.
