A trio of Cripps Waratah shooters have heaped further pain on the winless Karana following a monster round 12 victory on Saturday.

The 65-27 win was headed up by Cripps’ shooters Alannah Richards (23 goals), Matilda Franklin (18) and Sophie Pidgeon (18) with all three dominating inside the circle in an impressive display.

The trio all rotated inside the circle throughout the game with Richards spending the first-half on the bench before her 23 goal second-half.

An 18-7 first-quarter was also the catalyst behind the win with a tight Cripps defence limiting Karana to just single figure goal tallies in every quarter.

The win kept Cripps in touch with the top-three heading into round 13 while Karana remain the only winless team in the competition heading into the back-half of the season.

In the 19&U clash, it was also Cripps that came away victors with a tight 50-40 win.

The Karana Flames have adopted the Australian Defence Force saying ‘elephant eats’ as they tackle the remainder of the TNL 2025 season.

On Anzac Day weekend, a member from the ADF explained the motto they live by.

“They get asked can they eat an elephant and they would say ‘bit by bit’ instead of saying no,” Flames coach Rick Loring said.

It’s that motto that the Flames will be hoping can aid them when they face Cripps Waratah on Saturday night.

The round 11 match will be available live and exclusive on KommunityTV with the 19&U clash from 4pm and the Opens at 5.30pm.

“See they don’t say no in the ADF and he dived more into the saying but it is really powerful.

“And that is what we are doing for the rest of this year, taking it bit by bit.

“We won our first quarter against Devon a few weeks ago and we celebrated that, it is the little things we celebrate.”

The Flames are still yet to register a win on the board in 2025 and Saturday’s clash against Cripps proves as a tough contest given Cripps have won four of their past six matches.

“We haven’t really done anything differently, I think it is just more the girls are getting game time,” Cripps coach Aaron Pidgeon said.

“With the season starting early, we didn’t have the big pre-season as we have had before and now the team are just functioning and working really well together.

“We won’t be taking the Flames lightly but we will just be focusing on what we have done and continue to do that this weekend.”
