Early tournament favourites NSW Metro have continued to heat up in the early stages of the Under-18 Women’s National Championships at South Pine.
The NSW Metro side, who appear to still have several gears to go up in their game, made short work of rivals Victoria Country on Monday.
The girls in sky blkue absolutely dominated the paint, putting up 48 points inside on their way to a 73-61 win.

Only a late switch off, allowing the Victoria Country side to post a 16-9 final term, will be of concern with the match well and truly decided before the final break.
Jessie-May Hall has contined to prove why she was the number one rated feamle athlete coming into the tournament with a game-high 18 points, six rebounds and six steals.
If they are to win the gold, the NSW Metro side will have to do it the tough way with the squad seemingly reduced to nine players after a serious injury to Cassidy Thomson on day one of the tournament. Thomson was not named for their clash witb Victoria Country.

South Australia Country’s boys side also continued its dominant start to the Under-18 National Championships with a one-side 138-50 win over Northern Territory.
The SA Country side, who are quickly earning a reputation as the tournament flamethrowers, finsihed with a 72 per cent shooting record from inside the arc.
Aidan Schubert was the chief destroyer for the SA Country side with a game-high 27 points, six rebounds and three assists in a dynamic 17 minutes on the floor.

South Australia’s best regional ballers will get their chance to shine on the second day of the Under-18 National Championships in Brisbane.
It will be a shortened day of action on Court 4 at the South Pine Sports Complex, with only three games getting underway from 10am.

South Australia Country will feature in back-to-back clashes to start the day, with their women’s side aiming to avenge a tough opening loss to NSW Metro, when they clash with the ACT.
The SA Country side showed a strong depth in their squad with every player getting more than 10 minutes on the floor in their tournament opener.
They will need to look to skipper Krystal Thompson, who had 13 points, two assists and two steals against NSW Metro, to step up in the clash against the ACT.
The SA Country boys will follow the girls onto the court, when they clash with Northern Territory.
With young flame throwers Kale Matthews-Hampton and Ethan Macdermott pulling the strings on the attacking end, the SA side made short work of ACT on Sunday.
The only other game to feature on Court 4 on Monday is an exciting contest between an opening day winners NSW Metro and Victoria Country.
Both sides are stacked with talent in the back court, which sets up a mouth-watering finale to the day’s action.
Every match of the Basketball Australia Under-18 and Junior Wheelchair National Championships will be exclusively live streamed on KommunityTV from April 7-14.
