PINT have secured passage to their first every Men’s Premier League finals series after pulling off a goal rush against the Tiwi Bombers.
The Greenants hold on fifth was under pressure leading into the encounter following three successive defeats to sides above them, allowing the Buffaloes to breathe down their necks.
But a tight loss for the Buffaloes earlier in the day and a dominant 19.17 (131) to 4.8 (32) win against the Bombers has all-but secured their place in the play-offs.

And while there are still matches next week, percentage and opposition with PINT playing bottom side Palmerston plays heavily in PINT’s favour.
The side in green and gold dominated possessions off the back of a colossal performance from ruck Connor McDonald.
However, they were unable to make much of a mark on the scoreboard kicking just one goal from their first eight scoring shots.
Silver Yousif, returning from injury, was the instigator for a lot of forays forward bringing pace in attack and feeding his forwards.
Though their lack of scores early was reminiscent of last week’s showing against Nightcliff in which they did not score a goal before three quarter time.
But once they went bang they never looked back with Rory Taggert and Andrew Mead-Harding both getting four to their name in a dominant first half performance.
Andrew Jones was another consistent trier in the goal area, as was Benjamin Brett to show the side aren’t reliant on just skipper Matt Ryan, who was missing for the encounter.
Tiwi, to their credit, never gave up with Sam Darley and Tanna Blackney-Noter both putting up some resistance when PINT came their direction.
Paddy Heenan brought his experience, while young gun Thaddeus Puautjimi continued to show why he’s so highly rated getting stuck in at every contest.
And even in the fourth quarter where they were long since down and out the Bombers had their moment of magic with Karlson Kantilla torping the ball through the sticks from centre square.
But opportunities such as that had been so few and far between down to the pressure brought out by the PINT defence, which has been so highly vaunted this season.
“We came in knowing we had to win to cement finals, and they’re a quick side so we had to focus on getting on top in the mids,” Taggart said.
“There’s still a few minor things we’re not too happy with, but to get a convincing win against a quick side isn’t something we can be upset about and there’s plenty of positives to take from that game.
“On the scoring front it was good for us to show we don’t rely so heavily on the captain, it’s exciting to know we have plenty of avenues to score from.
“There’s a lot of excitement right now around the club cementing this first finals spot, but we’ve got Palmerston still to come next week and then we have to look at finals.”

Preview
PINT are on the cusp of their first-ever Men’s Premier League finals appearance, but the exciting Tiwi Bombers won’t mind getting in their way.
And the NT News and KommunityTV will be there to stream all the action from 5pm on Saturday.
The Bombers were PINT’s bogey side last season, picking up their first win in 988 days and a draw from their two encounters.
But the Greenants shook off that run earlier this season, beating their foes 11.18 (84) to 4.6 (30), as part of a five-game winning streak.
Steven Motlop, Harrison Maher and Brad Ryan have been standouts in the PINT defensive set-up, but they will be wanting more from their forwards after a few weeks where goals have been hard to come by.
The Bombers have been a much improved side this season, with their young guns all firing.
There are injury concerns around x-factor Kim Kantilla, but the likes of Thaddeus Puautjimi, Karlson Kantilla and Stanley Tipiloura, among others, are more than enough to take the challenge to PINT.
A full replay of the match will be posted here at the end of the game.
The NT News and AFL Northern Territory have come together in a partnership to live stream both the men’s and women’s Premier League games for this TIO NTFL season.
