A 10-goal showing from the big boot of Jarrod Brander helped Southern Districts dominate Wanderers on their home deck.
The former GWS man’s contribution alongside a career high six goals from Jed Anderson and dominant ruck pairing Wyatt Ryan and Matt Dennis were key to the 23.16 (154) to 6.6 (42).
Districts jumped out of the blocks and led by 28 points at the first break, however, the difference could have been greater, but a lapse in goal kicking accuracy cost them a healthier lead.
It was evident that Ryan and Dennis had the height and bulk advantage over a competitive Kayne Cox in the ruck.
And while Nathan Arbon, Braedon McLean and Jaxon East were always in the mix, clearances favoured Districts with Anderson, Michael Bowden, Beau Schwarze and Matthew Johnston appearing to have the ball on a string.
Then the big forwards in Brander and either the resting ruckman together with Stanly Waistcoat or the wide roaming Anderson set about peppering the goals.
While Zac Pethybridge, Matthew Motlop, Henry White and other Muk Muk defenders were finally overwhelmed by their bigger opponents, they continually pressured the ball carriers.
And the Districts wasteful goal shooting was as much to do with that pressure as it was a skill deficiency.
Equally effective in defence were rebounding Crocs Jordyn Cotter, Matthew Mazzini and Kayne Davidson.
But star of the show was Anderson whether on the ball or drifting around the forward line.
“Six is my best ever return and it was a nice experience wandering around the forward line and working with the other boys down there,” Anderson said.
“Jarrod got ten and we worked well together – he gave me one and I gave him a couple so there was a good connection.
“The last couple of weeks I started in the mid-field and then dropped forward and that seems to work quite well. And while I’m resting, Matty Johnston, Beau Schwarze and Michael Bowden step into the middle and do a terrific job.
“Our rucks are generally giving us first use of the ball and are combining well with Dennis also pushing forward while “truck” (Wyatt Ryan) takes over around the ground.”

PREVIEW
Southern Districts are hoping to give their home crowd an early Christmas gift when they chase a win against Wanderers at Norbuilt Oval.
And the NT News and KommunityTV will be there to stream all the action from 4pm Saturday.
The Crocs proved in Round 10 that they’re not a side to be counted out this year, finally getting their revenge against reigning premiers Waratah.
But with the competition so tight at the top of the table Districts now need to turn their sights towards securing a finals double chance position.
And a percentage boosting win against Wanderers will go a long way towards getting them there, and Jarrod Brander in front of goal will be a particular focal point.
Wanderers do have a renewed confidence of sorts after securing just their second win of the season against Palmerston last week.
They made life a little hard for themselves at time but the likes of Austin Smith and Jaxon East had strong showings and will be hoping for another win of their own.
Full replays of the match will be posted here following the game’s finish.
The NT News and AFL Northern Territory have come together in a partnership to livestream both the Men’s and Women’s Premier League games for this TIO NTFL season.
