NTFL 2023-24: Watch PINT vs Waratah Round 12 livestream

PINT have produced a miraculous win to thrust themselves back into the NTFL finals conversation and raised question marks about the table-topping Waratah. Watch the full replay.

Replay: PINT v Waratah - NTFL Round 12

PINT took a giant step toward securing a first ever top-five place following a dramatic come-from-behind win over Waratah in a massive final term at DXC Arena.

In a low-scoring game played on occasion in pouring rain, the Greenants trailed by 16-points at the long break and didn’t register a goal until the 18-minute mark of the third term.

The home side then turned around its often-lethargic front half effort and booted a further five goals including four in the last quarter to run out 6.8 (44) to 4.7 (31) victors.

Apart from Green skipper Matt Ryan who just couldn’t buy a goal, missing three gettable shots, it was all Waratah on the scoreboard early with Will Clark, Joel Hillis and Brodie Carroll booting majors.

And while six-pointers were hard to come by with both defences well and truly on top, Tahs were able to work their way through.

And although forward magician Jayden Magro was held goalless until the third quarter, they always looked more likely to come away with the result.

PINT defenders Steven Motlop, Harrison Maher and Brad Ryan worked tirelessly, and their collective defence and subsequent rebound was finally rewarded late in the third when Ethan Penrith.

The ruck contest between Connor Mcdonald (PINT) and his direct opponent Arnold Kirby was a feature of the game with honours about even and each being a major contributor to their respective sides.

Four goals to nil in the last, including two from Benjamin Brett, sealed the deal for the home side much to the delight of a large number of faithful supporters on the sideline.

The gravity of the win was not lost on the PINT skipper who believed it was among the best victories for the second season Premier Grade club.

“I reckon that was our best ever victory at this level especially in these conditions – it would have been easy for us to come out after half-time and just go through the motions,” said Ryan.

“Having said that, we never thought we were completely out of the contest and at half-time we were reminded to just stay calm and stick to our structures and we can turn this game around and get the win.

“I reckon the win was due largely to our defence who shut down a very dangerous Waratah forward line and from there rebound to give us our best chance of scoring.

“We can take a lot of confidence from a win like that and hopefully this will be the start of our race toward the finals.”

PREVIEW

PINT have a chance to prove they belong among the NTFL’s top dogs when they host top of the table Waratah.

The NT News and KommunityTV will be there to stream every moment of the game from 6.30pm, Saturday.

PINT return after a prolonged Christmas break, before which they had placed themselves back into the finals conversation on the back of consecutive victories.

Beating their main foe for fifth, the Darwin Buffaloes, last time out was a massive result for the side. With no more byes ahead, the PINT side begin a long and arduous road to the finals, but one they definitely have a map to navigate.

Steven Motlop is the linchpin in the midfield, while the likes of Connor McDonald and Brad Ryan have put in some strong recent performances.

Meanwhile, Waratah are hunting a reversal of fortunes from the last time these sides met where the Greenants went home as the winners by a single point.

The reigning premiers currently sit top of the table and have Jayden Magro at the top of the goal kicking race, with Anthony Munkara always around to add a couple majors of his own.

But it’s their midfield where they’re most dangerous with Brodie Carroll and Scott Carlin among others playing great football in the 2023-24 season.

Full replays of the match will be posted here following the game’s finish.

The NT News and AFL Northern Territory have come together in a partnership to livestream both the Men’s and Women’s Premier League games for this TIO NTFL season.
