NTFL 2023-24: Watch Palmerston vs Nightcliff Round 13 live stream

The Tigers spared little thought for their struggling rivals, with more than 15 players putting their name on the scoresheet in a one-sided affair. Watch the full match REPLAY now.

Replay: Palmerston v Nightcliff - NTFL Round 13

The Nightcliff Tigers have leaped to the top of the NTFL table delivering the Palmerston Magpies to a new low in a disappointing 2023-24 season.

The Tigers were merciless against Palmerston, who this week parted ways with coach Josh Heath, as 16 players got on board in the 31.27 (213) to 1.4 (10) victory.

The 203 point winning margin is the largest of the season, beating St Mary’s 175 point win earlier in the season.

Big man John Butcher was the first to kick a maximum, following a number of shanks from his compatriots, who all simultaneously righted their radar, as four goals in five minutes blew the Pies off the park.

Despite their best efforts, the Pies had a nightmare the whole game, unable to put anything of substance together in offence, irrespective of Alexander Paech, Lucas Edmonds and Tyson Young’s efforts around the park.

Adrian Scott, Lachlan Tardrew and Zachary Moody led the way for the goal scorers with four each, but when defenders started moving up forward for fun in the final quarter the game was a long-way finished.

It was Brodie Filo, Cameron Wild and Cooper Dahms who pulled the strings from the midfield, each building on the strong form they’ve showed this season.

Tigers’ VFL recruit Tardrew said the performance was exactly what coach Leigh Crossman was after, to show his side belonged on top.

“That was definitely Leigh’s message coming into the game, we wanted to play how we would come finals,” he said.

“This has set some good standards for not taking a backwards step and maintaining the pressure during a game.

“We work for one another because we all know what the end goal is and we know that no one player is bigger than that.

“As long as we keep knuckling down and keeping to our structures we focus on during the week, we’ll get the results.”

Tardrew also explained the importance of following up this record performance next round against the hardy Tiwi Bombers.

“They’ve strung a few good wins together and we know how tough and grindy they can be when push comes to shove,” he said.

“They aren’t going to be pushovers, so we’ll need to bring our best footy to the table.”

Preview

With St Mary’s inactive this weekend, Nightcliff Tigers will be eyeing off sole ownership of the NTFL Premier League’s top spot when they make the trip to Palmerston.

And the NT News and KommunityTV will be there to stream the whole match from 7pm Saturday.

The Tigers have enjoyed a strong start to life under first year coach Leigh Crossman, and have gathered some real momentum in the middle section of the season.

And they don’t look like slowing down when they take on the winless Palmerston, especially with the likes of ball magnets Brodie Filo and Lachlan Tardrew dominating in the midfield.

Their defensive prowess, which can put on the hurt to any forward unit, shouldn’t be overlooked either.

Nightcliff and Palmerston will clash in Round 13 on Saturday.

As for Palmerston, they will be looking for some bounce after what has been another disappointing week, with the club announcing on Friday they would part ways with coach Josh Heath.

Experienced heads Phil Wills and Ashton Hams will do what they can to rally the troops and make something of this match up.

Full replays of the match will be posted here following the end of the game.

The NT News and AFL Northern Territory have come together in a partnership to live stream both the men’s and women’s Premier League games for this TIO NTFL season.
