Old Scotch has set up a tantalising VAFA Premier Women’s decider with reigning premiers St Kevin’s after an emphatic preliminary final thrashing of Caulfield.

Millie Fraser-Smith kicked four of her side’s 10 goals in the 50-point demolition, as the minor premiers flexed their muscle ahead of what shapes as a grand final epic.

They battled until the end, but Caulfield Grammarians were ultimately blown out of the water, kept scoreless until Chloe O’Malley hit the target in the third quarter.

The contest was all but over by then, and while Caulfield added a few goals in the last quarter but this was Old Scotch’s day, from siren to siren.

The Stars led by 14 at the first break, 33 at halftime, and 42 at three-quarter before sealing a 50-point win.

PAINFUL MEMORY FUELS OLD SCOTCH

Old Scotch will be out to erase the memory of last year’s heartbreak on Sunday against Caulfield Grammarians.

The Stars enter this weekend’s preliminary final as red-hot favourites after winning the minor premiership, but they went down in last week’s qualifying final to reigning premier St Kevin’s.

It followed it up with a 36-point triumph in Round 15 at Camberwell Reserve.

Cardinals spearhead Eloise Defina will be one to watch after kicking three goals in both previous clashes this season on her way to winning the league goalkicking award.

It looms as a big day for the club with the reserves also playing off for a spot in the grand final, taking on Kew at 11.50am.

Charlie Anderson holds the keys for Grammarians after a superb season that saw her earn a mention in the club’s best 12 times in 15 matches.

Coach Danielle Distefano has re-signed for 2025 after taking the club from missing finals to the penultimate weekend of the season.

The match will kick off at 2.30pm at Martin Reserve with the winner to face St Kevin’s in the decider next Sunday.
