South Australia’s most promising young footballers have proved way too classy in a confidence-building victory against Prince Alfred College on Wednesday night.

The U16s SA side jumped out of the blocks with a five-goal-to-nil opening quarter to set the tone against one of the state’s top footballing schools at Karen Rolton Oval.

And from there, with winners on every line, the result was never really in doubt as they cruised to a 12.13 (85) to 5.9 (39) win despite inaccuracy.

Led by usual suspects in exciting forwards Zemes Pilot and Josh Jarrad, PAC simply couldn’t contain SA’s countless avenues to goal.

With free-flowing footy the order of the night, West Adelaide’s Laurence Andriani found himself in the zone in a commanding display.

Vice-captain Taj Garrett was very busy, while Charlie Best found plenty of it and captain Harvey Champman was his usual reliable self down back.

With conditions ideal for the talls, ruckman Hugo Semmler was regularly involved and forward Brayden Whimpress did some smart things.

Poor kicking saw SA only kick two goals in the second quarter as it peppered the goal line, but the margin of 45 points told the story.

With the heat out of the contest, the third quarter was a sluggish affair as the ball was mostly camped in SA territory.

PAC finally opened its account at the six-minute mark through a powerful mark and subsequent direct kick from Tom Lindsey, who had been threatening in the first half.

Prince Alfred College lifted in the last quarter as it fought the contest right out to slightly pull back the margin.

PAC ruckman Jules Dawson stood out for the vanquished and Will Boyce was a strong vocal point when the ball did manage to go forward.

For the winners, Pilot finished with three goals, alongside Jarrad, who kicked all of his in the second half, while Billy Nicholls and Whimpress both finished with two.

For Prince Alfred College, Boyce kicked three in the last quarter as he came to life, while Lindsey kicked two.
