DEFENDING Finke Desert Race bike champion David Walsh says back-to-back wins in the gruelling 460km return trip from Alice Springs to Finke would crown his career.

The off-road, two-day race for bikes, cars, buggies and quad bikes was finally conquered by the KTM rider in the 2019 race.

‘‘I’d be honoured to go back-to-back, I was pretty stoked to get the first one so two would be amazing,’’ Walsh said.

“It took me 12 goes to win it, but I’ve been on the podium five times, including the 2019 win, one second and three times in third-place.

Good friend Luke Hayes, Jacob Smith who was second in 2019, Beau Rowston, Callum Norton and Walsh’s cousin and first time rider Liam Walsh loom as his main challengers.
