Fallon is the son of former superstar rider Kieren Fallon, a six-time British Champion Jockey who rode the winners of three English Derbies, four English Oaks, five 2000 Guineas, and four 1000 Guineas.

His son, Cieren, showed little interest in racing until the age of 17 when he decided to become a jockey.

Cieren Fallon, 25, is now forging his own career in English racing having ridden three Group 1 winners including the Haydock Sprint Cup on the Haggas-trained Montassib earlier this year.

Haggas usually sends stable jockey Tom Marquand to ride the trainer’s Sydney raiders and the trainer-jockey combination have won three Queen Elizabeth Stakes with Addeybb (2020-21) and Dubai Honour, and two Ranvet Stakes with Addeybb (2020) and Dubai Honour (2023).

But with Marquand at the US Breeders Cup meeting at Santa Anita that weekend, Haggas is giving Fallon his opportunity to ride Lake Forest in the Golden Eagle.

Lake Forest, a runner-up in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot in June, is among four international raiders due to land in Sydney on Tuesday to prepare for the Golden Eagle.

Also on the flight is unbeaten French Group 1 winner Lazzat and Japan’s talented duo, Ascoli Piceno and Corazon Beat.

In early TAB Fixed Odds betting for the Golden Eagle, Ascoli Piceno is the $3.50 favourite to give Japan successive wins in the big race after Obamburumai scored last year.

Lazzat is next in line at $6 with Corazon Beat rated at $15 and Lake Forest a $26 chance.
