Trainer Bjorn Baker’s career-best season would undoubtedly soar to dizzying new heights if Within The Law can deliver an epic $5m Golden Slipper win at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday.
Baker has already comfortably etched his name among the upper echelon of Australian trainers but big-race success in Sydney’s autumn carnival is something he still craves.
Within The Law gets the chance to provide Baker with a career-altering moment.

Baker, a two-time Magic Millions 2YO Classic winning trainer, rates her among the best two-year-olds he’s ever trained.
“She is right up there,” Baker said.
“It’s very hard to win these autumn two-year-old races and she is the first one I’ve won one with.
“I guess she is right up there with (Magic Millions 2YO Classic winners) O’ Ole and Unencumbered.
“I’ve probably been quieter than I would like to be in the big autumn races but they are hard to win and she definitely gives us the opportunity.
“The Slipper is an iconic Sydney race, there is no doubt about it.”

Within The Law has been near flawless since kicking off her career with a bang in the Inglis Banner (1000m) at Flemington last spring.
She followed it up with victory in the Inglis Nursery before running an unlucky second to Rivellino in the $2m Inglis Millennium (1100m) in February.
A sensational victory from near last in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) helped Within The Law book her spot in the Slipper.
“She is very consistent and with even luck she probably goes into this just about unbeaten,” Baker said.
“Her past two runs have been outstanding and is a filly that brings her best to race day.
“Her work on Tuesday morning was excellent. She is not the greatest worker but was very good.”

Jason Collett rides Within The Law ($11) and also pilots Baker’s other Group 1 hope on the program when he connects with Stefi Magnetica in the Group 1 $1m George Ryder Stakes (1500m).
Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong for Stefi Magnetica ($9) first-up in the Canterbury Stakes but Baker insists the mare is ready to bounce back.
“Stefi Magnetica is going really well,” he said.
“I think she actually finished close enough to take a bit of bit comfort out of it.
“If she can get the right run on Saturday, she is not out of it. She seems fine, has had a good gallop since and was good on Tuesday morning.”
