Skirt The Law scratched from wide barrier Saturday and saved for Magic Millions

Tony Gollan had intended to race unbeaten filly Skirt The Law seven days before the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic but the plans have been scuppered by a wide gate.

Tony Gollan has elected not to race his unbeaten Gold Coast Magic Millions filly Skirt The Law from a wide gate seven days before her $2m grand final.

Bookmakers had Skirt The Law as the $2.60 favourite for Saturday’s $150,000 Gold Pearl on the Gold Coast which Gollan had intended to use as a springboard into next week’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

But he wasn’t keen to run the filly this Saturday after drawing barrier 15 – she would have started from the widest barrier 10 in the 1100m race.

“I don’t want to her to race this Saturday, it is barrier related,” Gollan said.

“I don’t want to give her a gut-buster seven days before the Magic Millions.

“She trialled at the Gold Coast recently and will have a course proper gallop next week.”

Skirt The Law is safely qualified for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic after two thumping wins at Doomben.

Gollan had been keen to race the all-female owned filly in the Gold Pearl, knowing that six of the last 10 winners of the Magic Millions have raced seven days prior.

But a wide barrier has put paid to those plans and Skirt The Law will go straight into the Magic Millions where she is rated a $13 chance.

Meanwhile, Trent Busuttin has confirmed Victorian colt Sunsource is set to take his spot in the Magic Millions Classic field.

Sunsource stormed home from well back on debut to win the $250,000 Ballarat Magic Millions 2YO Classic in November but then disappointed in a 2YO Handicap at Doomben on December 31.

But Busuttin, who co-trains with Natalie Young, says Sunsource is set take his spot in the Magic Millions field.
