FOUR-PLAY: $200 BETTING STRATEGY

RACE 4: GROUP 3 BLUE DIAMOND PRELUDE C&G (1100m)

$50 win ALEPPO PINE (2) at $2.50

Sharp and smart colt with untapped potential should make a bold statement on Saturday in the Blue Diamond Prelude colts and geldings division. Won with effortless authority on debut at Ballarat in early December and tipped out with the Blue Diamond in mind. Jumped out very nicely twice last month in preparation for the Prelude. FIELD OF PLAY (3) ultra-impressive on debut at The Valley recently a definite threat.

RACE 5: GROUP 2 BLUE DIAMOND PRELUDE FILLIES (1100m)

$25 each-way MISS CELINE (2) at $11/$2.80

No knock on favourite MY GLADIOLA (1), who won the Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) on debut last month but short enough in the market on Saturday at $1.90. Happy to back Miss Celine second-up and with a bit more ground up her sleeve. Miss Celine finished strongly to run fourth first-up in the Preview beaten 5½ lengths. Barrier one a slight concern but no one better than champion jockey Blake Shinn to find a way. Watch for her late.

RACE 6: GROUP 2 RUBITON STAKES (1100m)

$25 each-way REY MAGNERIO (4) at $4.60/$1.80

Ticks all the boxes despite a wide draw. Should be able to slot in just off midfield and finish off strongly. Placed third first-up last campaign in an 1100m at Caulfield, where only a head separated the top three, and raced consistently in the spring, touched off by Estriella and MAHARBA (2) before winning a Listed race at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Rey Magnerio will certainly improve from Saturday with Group 1 targets on the horizon but definitely up to winning fresh.

RACE 9: GROUP 1 CF ORR STAKES (1400m)

$50 win MR BRIGHTSIDE (1) at $2.60

Primed to defend the CF Orr crown and claim a ninth Group 1 success despite potentially stern opposition from up and comers like ANOTHER WIL (5) and SCHWARZ (7). PINSTRIPED (3), who defeated Mr Brightside first-up last spring in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) and STEPARTY (4) no pushovers either. That aside, Mr Brightside is world class and remains the horse to beat on Saturday.

QUADZILLA

LEG 1 - RACE 7

ANGEL CAPITAL (2) has won three of six and luckless in the Caulfield Guineas last spring. Trainer Clinton McDonald strongly considered the CF Orr Stakes as an option on Saturday for Angel Capital but opted to stay in three-year-old company first-up. EVAPORATE (1) went from a maiden to Group 1 placed last campaign and finished off with a run in the Cox Plate. Looks a race in two.

1ST LEG: 1, 2

LEG 2 - RACE 8

CHORLTON LANE (4) has the fitness edge on most and consistency could be king in a wide open affair. Iron horse MUNHAMEK (3) should be ready to peak fourth-up although best work typically saved for Flemington. Progressive mare ELPHINSTONE (10) has come into her own the past two starts with dominant come-from-behind wins. More than capable with speed in the race. WINDSTORM (7) best of the each-way contenders.

2ND LEG: 3, 4, 7, 10

LEG 3 - RACE 9

MR BRIGHTSIDE (1) clearly the most popular result. The champion looks primed to defend his CF Orr crown and win a ninth Group 1 race. ANOTHER WIL (5) a middle distance horse on the rise and Group 1 winner-in-waiting but he might need to wait for another day as Mr Brightside remains the weight-for-age benchmark. Include PINSTRIPED (3), who knocked off Mr Brightside first-up last spring in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m).

3RD LEG: 1, 3, 5

LEG 4 - RACE 10

CERTAIN RISE (3) was runner-up on debut behind the smart Lofty Arch and then won back-to-back races at Mornington and Moonee Valley respectively. Could be very smart in time. ARABIAN SUMMER (4) won stylishly at Gold Coast first-up then luckless in the Sunlight slot race at Sunshine Coast. The Tony and Calvin McEvoy filly trialled up nicely behind Mr Brightside last week. Include DRIFTING (1) and KIRRIBILLI (13).

4TH LEG: 1, 3, 4, 13

COST $100 FOR 104%

SKINNY QUADDIE

Start with EVAPORATE (1) and ANGEL CAPITAL (2). In the second leg take CHORLTON LANE (4), WINDSTORM (7) and ELPHINSTONE (10). Then in the third leg take MR BRIGHTSIDE (1) and ANOTHER WIL (5). Come home with CERTAIN RISE (3), ARABIAN SUMMER (4) and KIRRIBILLI (13).

1ST LEG 1, 2

2ND LEG 4, 7, 10

3RD LEG 1, 5

4TH LEG 3, 4, 13

COST $100 FOR 277%
