INSIDE MAIL - CANTERBURY
Kilman could just be the next ‘Special K’ for Chris Waller. A $360,000 Magic Millions yearling, he was born and raised at Waikato Stud. He’s by their super young sire Super Seth and how about this, his first five dams are all stakes-winners - wow. Kilman is $19 for his debut but the ‘bet’ could be him to win the Sires’ at $51. Matias is a Snitzel colt out of VRC Oaks runner Never Listen. Trialled well too. Commanding Belle has the race experience and the draw.
Bet: Kilman each-way, Kilman win/place Inglis Sires’ Produce (TAB Fixed Odds $51/$13.50)
RACE 2: CHC POWERING THE CHASE (BM64) 1550m
United Kingdom has a win and four placings from his seven starts, the win was at Geelong on debut in a 1500m Maiden when the two Micks trained him. All four runs for Chris Waller have been good in better company than this too. Goes well fresh. Pink Shalala has been a beaten favourite in three of her six starts. That said, she has placed at five of them. Scalable, who races in those world famous Sangster silks, has raced at Canterbury all three runs so far, all good, she won the last time.
Bet: United Kingdom each-way

RACE 3: TAB HIGHWAY HCP (C3) 1250m
Roses Imminente could easily be unbeaten in her three starts at Scone, Tamworth and Dubbo respectively, As it stands, she won two of them and was a closing second at the one in the middle. She trialled well in a deep Heat at home at Scone the other day. Princess Mary has raced in Highways at her last four starts and those last three are a lot better than ‘757’ look at first glance. That said, I wish it was a big track Highway as opposed to Canterbury. Colt Prosser’s Kaihoko ran a huge race in the Champs Class 4 Preview at Taree on Jan 31.
Bet: Roses Imminente each-way, Princess Mary to place
RACE 4: KIA EVENING STAR (BM78) 1550m
All In The Mind has raced at Canterbury four times for a win a second and a third and take note, that all of those were over this same distance. His most Canterbury 1550m mission was 14 days ago where he finished third to his stablemate (and main rival) Sweysive who is going for four straight and will obviously be hard to beat again but by the same token, is not unbeatable. If both the Baker horses get rolled, it could be via Chris Waller’s Irish-bred mare Mistressofillusion whose trials are way better than they read on paper.
Bet: All In The Mind to win, quinella 5, 8
RACE 5: PRECISE AIR (BM64) 1900m
Piraeus could have already run in the Canberra Cup Preview by now. That said, he had gate 10 there compared to barrier 3 here so who knows. On top wherever he goes in my opinion. Sting In The Tail is a typical Savabeel in that she is getting better every time she steps out. Canterbury has been playing so incredibly well this summer so she can certainly make up the ground to win, it is just the timing that needs to be spot on. Star Legacy has run three honourable races at this track and distance. As fit as hands can make him.
Bet: Piraeus to win or if scratched, Star Legacy to place

RACE 6: SCHWEPPES (BM72) 1250m
Wallenda and Black Caviar’s ‘nephew’ Theblade are both down to contest the same race at Rosehill on Saturday so one, or both, could be missing from here. Just for what it is worth, I reckon whoever stays here, wins and whoever goes to Rosehill wins there. I am sure the trainers would prefer it that way too. If they both come out, all roads lead to Tenderize whose 1 from 23 strike-rate hides the fact that he has mixed and matched it with some good horses in some good races.
Bet: Wallenda to win or of scratched Theblade to win or if scratched Tenderize each-way
RACE 7: THE AGENCY REAL ESTATE (BM72)
Joyner is the 11th foal of her dam, Sansadee, who was third in a Black Opal but is best known for the deeds of her fourth foal, Brazen Beau. Joyner has got a racing pattern most conducive to winning which accounts for the fact that she has two wins and four placings from her seven starts. One of those wins was here and she bolted in. Wind of Change will only have to repeat her second-up nose second at the Farm to figure here. Wilbury has accepted for Quirindi but drew wide there. Has barrier 1 here.
Bet: Joyner to win
