TWO Women’s Premier League clubs drawn into a league investigation after a post-match fight between several players in late June have appealed the penalties.

A Hellenic player received a three-year ban, another a two-year penalty and a third player copped a 12-week prohibition, with four weeks suspended, following a Football NT probe.

A Port Darwin player received a two-year ban and another a 12-week penalty, with four weeks suspended.

Hellenic have also been deducted nine competition points and received a good behaviour bond.

Any further breaches will automatically result in a three-point deduction per offence.

Eyewitnesses described the fight as a “big mess” with multiple scuffles breaking out after the game.

Several people told the NT News three women allegedly attacked a fourth in the carpark, tearing off her head covering and ripping her dress down to her bra.

However, on Thursday, Football NT told the NT News both clubs would appeal the rulings.

One of the clubs involved said it would not comment following legal advice.

A source close to one of the clubs involved said “there will come a time where I will make a comment but not right now”.

The NT News understands Football NT will now establish an independent appeal panel, to be chaired by a barrister with support from two other “quality” independent members.

After the panel hears all the evidence it will then set a hearing date.

It comes as an 18-year-old woman will face court in September charged with assault following the fracas in the Marrara car park, which police say was an “escalation” after the June 26 game.

Police are still investigating the matter.
