Socceroos star Jackson Irvine was forced to cancel his wedding after making one wild mistake.
The 31-year-old midfielder spent two booze-fuelled days celebrating promotion after leading St Pauli back into Germany’s top tier league with a 3-1 win over VFL Osnabruck on Sunday.

Irvine was due to tie the knot with his longtime partner Jemilla Pir in Denmark on Tuesday, but he had made one glaring mistake as he got caught up in the celebrations.
The pair kept things low key by going into a government building, but Irvine left behind one key document ... his passport.
In order to get married in Denmark, both parties must present a valid passport. As Irvine had left his behind, presumably at the hotel, Danish officials were left with no choice but to refuse to marry the pair.
Jemilla took to social media to share the rather unfortunate news that their magical day was on hold.
“When you’ve been drunk for 2 days and forget to take your passport to your marriage appointment,” she wrote followed by three clown emojis.
“Let’s try again tomorrow,” she added. “(Party tonight is still on).”
Thankfully the mishap was corrected the very next day as Pir posted on Instagram a photo of the pair with Irvine holding onto their passports.
Second time around everything went according to plan as the pair tied the knot and became husband and wife.
Before the wedding mishap unfolded, Irvine, the St Pauli captain, said his “emotions” were “going crazy” after helping secure promotion back to the top league.
“I’ve never felt anything like it,” he said.
“I’m completely overwhelmed. It’s just incredible to see how much it means to people, not just us.
“This is why I came here. I wanted to achieve something for the fans and give the people something and we’ve done that by getting promoted.
“We’ve all invested so much, week in, week out, and it’s a huge honour to be captain of this team, something I don’t take for granted.
“We had belief going into the game. We were prepared. We wanted to give our utmost and leave everything on the pitch and all of us gave everything to seal promotion.
“It was the only way we were going to go up.”
Irvine has donned the Socceroos jersey on 66 occassions and has found the back of the net 11 times.
His first appearance on the field came when he was called on as a substitute for Mile Jedinak in the 83rd minute of a game against Canada in October 2013.
He has appeared in two World Cups for the Socceroos and in March last year he became the 63rd captain of Australia in a friendly against Ecuador in Melbourne.
After playing in the Scottish Premiership with Hibernian, Irvine joined St Pauli ahead of the 2021-22 season.
St Pauli hasn’t played in the Bundesliga since being relegated in the 2010-11 season.
The win came thanks to a brace from Dapo Afolayan and a goal from the club’s top scorer Marcel Hartel.
“It’s indescribable. We were able to give something back to the fans for their incredible support,” coach Fabian Huerzeler said on Sky.
“It’s an extreme relief and the crowning glory of our season.”
