EPL Title Race Heats Up! + Champions League action & Ange Ball Scenes!

With 14 rounds to go, it is still hard to predict who will win the 2023/24 EPL title race, but the top three looks set and it should be a thrilling finish. Read on and listen to the Football Today Podcast for a breakdown of who will win the Premier League from here and which teams can stop Manchester City from taking out a four-peat.

With the Premier League’s top three all two wins ahead of fourth and are at least 13 better in goal difference to every other team, the title winner will most likely come down to one of these sides and it is shaping up to being the closest races in 10 years.

ARSENAL

  • 52 points (24 games played)

The Gunners have the most losses of any team in the top three, but they have the league’s best defence and have started incredibly in 2024.

Producing a huge winning aggregate of 16-2 across their last four matches, including a win over league leaders Liverpool and a London Derby victory over West Ham, their confidence is sky high.

Much like last season though, they have randomly dropped points to lower teams, including Fulham and Chelsea, not being able to convert in front of goal with no pure strikers up front.

Not winning the league since 2004, the inexperience of pushing for the title may get to them, while City and Liverpool have a game or win in hand above them currently.

Prediction: 3rd Place

MANCHESTER CITY

  • 52 points (23 games played)

It wouldn’t be a modern title race without talking about the Sky Blue of Manchester, who have won the league in five of the last six seasons and are going for the first ever four-peat in English top flight history.

City haven’t lost since the start of December, welcoming the best duo in the world Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland back from injury recently they are back to their scary best and are famous for building as the season progresses.

Liam ‘Stats Guy’ McAllion isn’t surprised by City’s rise on the Football Today Podcast, “they have the deepest squad in the world, bringing superstars like Kyle Walker or Jack Grealish off the bench and it isn’t a shock to see them having a game in hand and pushing for top spot again.”

This title race could come down to their away matches at Liverpool, where they have failed to win their last three visits and Tottenham, where Spurs have won the last five league meetings.

Prediction: Runners Up

LIVERPOOL

  • 54 points (24 games played)

City’s biggest challengers through these years of dominance are definitely Liverpool, who won the league back in 2020 and have been runners up in two of the other five seasons.

The production out of their depth players has been pivotal for the Reds staying on top of the table since Matchweek 16, with the likes of Diogo Jota dominating with six goal contributions across the last six matches in Mohamed Salah’s AFCON and injury absence.

Marcus Bazzano talks about them starting to find their best form on the Football Today Podcast, “although it was against Burnley, their game on the weekend had their entire front three of Jota, Nunez and Diaz score a goal each and they are starting to click in all areas of the pitch.”

Drawing to City in the last meeting and facing them as well as Tottenham at Anfield to finish the season, they are the best team suited to push for the title this season, with the best goal difference in the league and a 10-2-0 record at home.

Prediction: Title winners
