Can anyone stop Arsenal right now? EPL Matchweek 25 review

Arsenal are in unstoppable form and the Blades can break what unwanted record?

Arsenal ON FIRE! Are Sheffield United the Worst Team EVER?

The Gunners are finding form at the right end of the season and Sheffield United are on track to break some league records for all the wrong reasons. Read on and listen to the Football Today Podcast for a full EPL Matchweek 25 wrap, Arsenal’s title chances and which team could hit an all time low.

GOALS GALORE FOR GUNNERS

This time last year Arsenal were on a downward spiral from top spot, losing to mid table teams and lacking belief that they could win the title. The Gunners are currently sitting third on the league table but they have won five straight games comfortably with a wide array of goalscorers.

No team has scored more goals in 2024 than Arsenal and they have had nine different scorers this year already, due to their amazing passing midfielders and powerful finishers.

Marcus Bazzano talks them up on the Football Today Podcast, “Arsenal have been unbelievable, they have scored 21 goals in their last five matches alone... especially with goal difference, so important in such a tight title race and they currently have the best in the league.”

ARSENAL TITLE CHANCES

The footballing world is waiting for a classic shock Arsenal loss, which would take them away from the top title chasing pack with Liverpool and Manchester City, but they are a huge chance to go all the way this year being so consistent at both ends of the ground.

The current best team in London also are the number one defensive team in the competition, helped by gutsy performances by William Saliba, which is the opposite of their play last season, conceding easy goals.

Although Champions League may be a hinderance to their flow on into league games, Arsenal should dominate the next month of football with a reasonably easy draw and their title race could be decided on the 1st of April when they play Manchester City.

Chelsea and Tottenham proved that City aren’t unstoppable at the Etihad this season and if Bukayo Saka can continue his amazing form in attack, Arsenal are a huge chance of going all the way this season.

ALARM BELLS FOR THE BLADES

Sheffield United aren’t statistically on track for the worst Premier League points total of all time, passing Derby County’s 11 points from 2008, but they still have one of the worst defences of all time and have all but locked in relegation after just returning to the top flight.

Liam ‘Stats Guy’ McAllion labels just how bad they have been on the Football Today Podcast, “the most goals conceded by a top flight team in a season is 100 and that was in a 42 game season compared to 38 games now... the Blades have already conceded 65 goals and are on track for 99, they could take out an embarrassing stat.”

Conceding an alarming 16 goals in their last four matches, United are getting worse in defence, with some older players and others not looking comfortable in the Premier League, this will be a grueling finish to the season for their fans.
