Experienced football operator Jamie Monteith has taken over the top job at Football Northern Territory, and is set to draw on a strong career.

Monteith joins on March 24 from Football Australia where he has been collaborating with FNT in his role managing relationships with member federations across the country.

He also spent more than a decade at Arsenal FC as well as with A-League club Melbourne Victory.

It follows the stepping down of Bruce Stalder, who ran the sporting body for close to a decade until he left the role on January 21.

FNT President Selina Holtze said Monteith’s experience in supporting and managing football programs would be critical for his tenure.

“Jamie already has good insights into the Northern Territory’s footballing landscape,” she said.

“Over the past two years he has been working with us to develop a comprehensive understanding of our football ecosystem and has fostered strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders across the NT including urban, regional and remote areas of the NT.

“His in-depth knowledge of FNT’s strengths and challenges, will be a significant advantage as he will be able to identify key priority areas categorised into short, medium, and long term.”

Monteith has managed teams of various sizes in his career and has worked extensively across national, state, association and A-league levels.

He said it was an honour to be appointed to the role and was looking forward to working with the football community across the NT

“Football in the Northern Territory is in a great place and we have the opportunity now to further grow the world game in the most wonderful part of Australia,” he said.

“In my role at Football Australia we have already had some great success across the NT with the implementation of the “Club Changer” Development Program.

“That was recognised as the Asian Football Confederation Community Program of the year 2022 & 2023 and the “FIFA 4 Schools” Program which have both provided great benefits to our participants.

“I can’t wait to get started and I look forward to increasing the number of our volunteer workforce in partnership with the Australian Sports Commission and deliver great outcomes that benefit the organisation, its members, and the broader community.”
