Hume City has made the shock decision to sack manager Riccardo Marchioli.
After a 3-2 win over Green Gully last week, the club was sitting sixth on the NPL Victoria ladder.
The move sees City searching for its ninth coach in four years.
It hasn’t had a coach see out an entire 26-match season since 2019.
In a statement on club social media, Hume City president Ersan Gulum praised Marchioli’s guidance.
“Marchioli joined the club in November 2024 and has overseen a strong start to the 2025 NPL Victoria season, as well as guiding the senior men’s team to the quarter-finals of the Dockerty Cup,” the statement said.
“The club is currently in the process of appointing its next head coach, with the team’s next match scheduled against Dandenong City at Nasiol Stadium on Friday, 6 June.
“We’d like to thank Ric for all his efforts during his time at Hume City FC.
“We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
Gulum said no further comment would be offered at this stage.
A new coach is expected to be announced early next week.
Gulum is one of the nine coaches Hume City has had in the past four seasons.
He took over in late 2022, the fourth manager that year, after Nick Hegarty, Peter Tichy and Goran Lozanovski.
He departed in early 2023, replaced by interim coach Colin Cooper, before Cam Watson took the reins for the remainder of the campaign.
Watson won four of six games in early 2024, and had the club sitting third on the ladder, before the shock decision to replace him with David Chick.
Chick would guide the club to the Dockerty Cup and NPL Victoria semi-finals and an Australia Cup quarter-final before departing at the end of the season.
Marchioli was appointed in November last year and had a 8-3-5 record.
Friday night’s match at home is critical for Hume’s top-six ambitions with Dandenong City sitting seventh, just four points behind.
