Dier has been linked with a move to join Bayern Munich and missed the recent 1-0 win over Burnley in the FA Cup.

Postecoglou told ITV Sport after the game that Dier “got injured in training”.

One reporter however questioned Postecoglou if the absence may be connected to the reportedly growing interest in him.

The Aussie didn’t bite his tongue as he tore into the line of questioning by the journalist.

“Separate issue mate, but don’t question my integrity,” Postecoglou fired back.

“When I say he’s injured, he’s injured. He didn’t train yesterday. I can get vision in for you, you can ask him. It’s got nothing to do with anything else.”

Postecoglou was again pressed on the Bayern links but reiterated he had not heard anything about the potential move.

“I’ve got no idea,” Postecoglou said.

“When you ask me whether he’s injured, he’s injured. I didn’t make that up. If he wasn’t injured I’d say he wasn’t selected. It’s easy for me to say.

“He’s injured and in terms of anything else that’s happening, not on my radar. Not that I’ve heard of. If there is something I’m sure I’ll hear of it, but fair to say in the last 24 hours we’ve been focusing on the game and the guys that are available.”

Sky Sports Germany have reported Dier and Bayen have a total verbal agreement, with the defender said to have been offered a one-and-a-half-year deal.

Pedro Porro’s sublime strike fired the Spurs to a hard-fought 1-0 win over stubborn Burnley in the FA Cup third round on Friday.

Porro bagged his first goal this season with just 12 minutes left in north London to spare Tottenham the prospect of an unwanted trip to Turf Moor for a replay.

Tottenham’s progress to the fourth round made it five wins from their last six games in all competitions as they continue to bounce back from their autumn slump.

Without a major triumph since winning the 2008 League Cup, Tottenham fans would gladly take any silverware at present, no matter the competition.

They won the last of their eight FA Cups in 1991 and Postecoglou would dearly love to mark his first season in charge by ending that long wait for a ninth.

“We were a little bit wasteful in the final third. The way the game was going we needed something special from someone and Pedro delivered. He’s been outstanding all year,” Postecoglou said.

“Cup games are a unique beast and we’re through to the next round so that’s the main thing.”
