NIGHTCLIFF’S dual Nichols medallist Cameron Ilett expects 22 Eagles to come at his side when the Premier League’s second semi-final is decided on Saturday.
With a grand final berth the prize for the winner and a Wanderers side coming off a qualifying final win over St Mary’s, the Tigers know they have two hours of hard work ahead of them.
“I watched the second half on the weekend and Wanderers were exceptional, so it should be an awesome spectacle,’’ Ilett told the NT News.
“They’re up and about and playing some great footy as happened in our two matches this season.
“We were behind in the first game and got over the line and a snatched a draw at home, so there’s not a lot between both sides.’’
Nightcliff premiership trio Liam Holt Fitz, Nathan Brown and John Butcher return for the night final.
Wanderers officials were still deciding last night whether to contest their captain Braedon McLean’s two-match ban for rough conduct in the first final.
“We match up well against each other and we know they’re a well balanced side with some quality talls and unbelievable players with speed and skill,’’ Ilett said.
“Shannon’s (coach Shannon Motlop) done a great job in getting his best side on the park at the most important time of the season.’’
A win on Saturday night means Nightcliff will play two games in a month.
“Ideally your best form at any stage of the season is winning form,’’ Ilett said.
“Whichever side progresses straight through means their players get an opportunity to freshen up and still get the run in the legs and skills at training without bumps and bruises.
“The end result is team success and I love winning a game of table tennis, so you can imagine what it’s like to win a tough game of footy with 21 teammates .
