The inaugural Deadly Cup in 2020 provided was enjoyed by over 2000 attendees and a further 8500 via livestream.

Stars of the NRL NT competition in the senior and junior divisions were ready to battle it out on the field while representing their culture.

However, organisers remain hopeful that the Cup will be able to make its return in line with other NAIDOC Week celebrations.

Deadly Enterprises director Shaun Tatipata said that while it was disappointing to postpone they were still eager to produce the event when government advice allowed.

“It wasn’t an easy decision but it’s one we had to make in order to keep our community safe,” Tatipata said.

“Our goal will be to align the new date with other NAIDOC Week celebrations but ultimately our priority remains keeping the community safe.

“The Cup is set to be one of the biggest celebrations of the week and it will assist us in raising awareness and support for the Deadly Vision Centre.”

This year’s event will focus on promoting health and good hygiene practices and will have in place all of the necessary COVID safe measures to protect our community.

“The public can be rest assured that when the Deadly Cup Carnival does proceed we will be doing everything we can to ensure it’s a safe, fun and Deadly event,” Tatipata said.
