THE Darwin Sistaz put themselves straight into the NRL NT women’s premiership grand final with a dominant 34-4 win over Nightcliff in the major semi-final.
The undefeated side found themselves in the lead almost straight away with two tries in the opening 10 minutes to Bianca Stokes and Kerrie O’Connell.
Nightcliff attempted to climb into the scoring themselves early on but a strong, strangling defence led by Stokes and Bianca Scrymgour kept the Dragons at bay.

And the dominant opening half didn’t end there with Danielle Ponter and Leanne Allia dotting down to all but put the game to bed before halftime.
Nightcliff were quick on the offence in the second half, but defence held much like the first stanza and soon enough it was Sistaz scoring off a length-of-the-field try to La-Toniya Norris.
O’Connell crossed for her second with Sistaz then sure they would be into the grand final, a year after picking up the wooden spoon in 2019.
“Proud is an understatement considering these girls were wooden spooners last year to now be sitting in a grand final,” Scrymgour told the Sunday Territorian.
“This win has come from a lot of hard work in training, accountability from each player and making sure everyone in the whole squad had a job that they could execute.
“The next two weeks will be about tightening up a lot of our plays and making it cleaner when we get out there against whoever we meet in the grand final.”
Eager to get a score the Dragons kept coming, playing for pride and some form heading into the preliminary final.
Emily Kapernick burst through the Sistaz defence to be caught at the 20m line, and a couple of phases later Teka Voysey dived over for Nightcliff’s first and only score of the fixture.
