Western Australia were lost 8-1 in one-day game against Tasmania

The reigning one-day champs were embarrassed on their home deck setting a new low as a Test hopeful stood out again.

Smith suffers double blow to the 'plums'

Six Western Australian batters were out for ducks in a calamitous one-day effort against Tasmania losing 5-0 as all-rounder Beau Webster enhanced his Test credentials with a six-wicket haul at the WACA.

The reigning one-day champs were all out for just 53 after losing their last eight wickets for just a single run, which was a wide down the leg side, recording the lowest one-day score in WA history.

They slumped from 2-52, losing 5-0 and then 3-1 to be humbled for the second lowest score in the tournament’s history, just days after romping to a Sheffield Shield win at the same venue. Tasmania reeled in the target inside nine overs.

Webster, the reigning Shield player of the year who is among the names being mooted as potential replacements for all-rounder Cameron Green in the Test team to play India, sent down six superb overs to finish with 6-17, the best figures of his career.

Billy Stanlake also took 3-12 amid the batting carnage which set all new domestic cricket records.

The final eight wickets fell across five overs with WA registering just a single run as Ashton Turner, Cooper Connolly, Hilton Cartwright, Ashton Agar, Jhye Richardson and

Joel Paris were all out for zero.

They faced a combined 26 balls without registering a score.

It was a stunning collapse with the second wicket falling when WA were on 45, the team’s top-scorer, D’Arcy Short who made just 22.

The final score was WA’s lowest one-day total and the second lowest score in the tournament’s history. South Australia was all out for 51t against Tasmania in Hobart in 2003.
