Hobart Hurricanes star Tim David believes he and his teammates have something “to prove” this season.

The Hurricanes have built one of their most impressive squads in recent seasons ahead of their new Big Bash League season kicks off on Monday night in Launceston.

After recently taking part in Australia’s T20 tour of India, on the back of the ODI World Cup success, David said he is ready to put on a show this season.

“I’m playing well, I’ve lacked a couple of sixes I would have liked over in India,” he said.

“I’ve got a lot to prove to myself, I’ve got a lot of stuff I’ve been working on, I’m looking forward to playing a big part for this team.

“The games not played on paper but we’ve had the same core for a while now and it’s up to us to get the best out of ourselves.

“I think we’ve got enough experience in the squad now where we can win those important moments in games, that’s what we’ve missed.

“We’ve always had the exciting skill level, it’s time to put it together.”

On Friday, English international Chris Jordan took part in a training session with his new teammates as he prepares to make an instant impact on the BBL.

He was selected by the Hurricanes with the fourth pick in the BBL Draft earlier this year and has previous experience in the competition with the Sydney Sixers.

Speaking in Hurricanes for the first time, Jordan said he felt ready for a big tournament.

“I’m feeling pretty confident, I came off a pretty good summer in England,” he said.

“That pressure and expectation is always there it’s something you’re accustomed to.

“It’s about be getting my mindset right, taking it one day at a time, one game at a time.”

While he won’t play a home game at Blundstone Arena in Hobart against the Melbourne Renegades until December 23, Jordan said he felt the conditions at the home ground could suit his style.

“Blundstone is normally a wicket that can nip around, it can zip through under the lights as well,” he said.

“I like to back myself to bowl in any conditions so I’ll just try and assess as we go along.”

Monday’s game against the Sydney Sixers will get underway at 7.15pm.
