TRACY Village captain Kylie Duggan was ecstatic to see her side storm into the 2020 Darwin Basketball Women’s final after beating Ansett 94-74 in the preliminary final on Friday night.

Ansett continue to fight with a mind of causing the upset and knocking the league powerhouse out of the competition.

Chief among their scorers were Sophie Palmer and Frances Fatnowna, who seized their opportunities under the basket to keep their side in the contest.
The score difference was as little as a score in the third quarter as Jets dropped off the intensity, but a revamp later in that quarter from Michelle Ellis and Sam Rioli saw the side on the front foot once again.
And an injury to Julia Pollon, who was carried off the court, took the wind from Ansett’s sails as Jets surged again in the final quarter.
“It’s a sensational feeling. We wanted it bad after last week and came out firing, getting the ball moving quickly with our transitional basketball,” Duggan told the NT News.
“We’re in exactly the spot we want to be, firing just before the grand final next weekend.
“We sort of slowed down a little bit in that third quarter.
“So we just needed to lift the tempo again and go back to our natural running game.
“Once we moved the ball quickly down the floor, we were able to get some easy baskets and we finished off well.
“Now we need to get our minds into the grand final.
“We know what it takes to win a grand final so we know what we need to do to prepare for it.”
The Jets will now gear up for a contest against two-time reigning premiers and arch rivals Lightning in the competition decider.
It will be a contest the Tracy Village side will be hungry to see out on its terms – the team won a stunning 13-straight titles before losing that past two finals to Jason Ivinson’s team.
