‘He’s asleep’: Nikita Tszyu undercard stunned by ‘knockout of the year’

The Nikita Tszyu undercard has been stunned by a brutal punch that commentators were quick to call the “knockout of the year”.

A brutal knockout on the Nikita Tszyu vs Dylan Biggs undercard has been called the knockout of the year.

Mark Schleibs has claimed his first victory since 2019 with a savage knockout of Shamal Ran Anuj in the first fight of the night at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.

Anuj landed a hard body shot in the first round but Schleibs dominated the rest of the right, stopping the contest in the fifth round.

He pinned Anuj in the corner of the ring and landed a thunderous left hand that sent Anuj falling to the canvas.

Dan Ginnane said on Main Event: “He is celebrating already, that’s a vicious shot that’s ended this fight and Mark Schleibs is back.”

Billy Dib and Barry Michael were in awe of the knockout in commentary.

Dib said: “Wow, he’s asleep.”

“Wow, what a statement.”

Michael added: “What a knockout. One of the best knockouts I’ve seen in ages. Unbelievable knockout.”

Dib asked: “Is that knockout of the year? That’s got to be knockout of the year. That has to be knockout of the year.”

It’s a return to the winner’s circle for the Melburnian Schleibs, who had lost his last two fights to Brock Jarvis and Rocky Ogden, having dropped back to bantamweight, after stepping up to super bantam for the two losses.

It takes his record to 13-2 with two KOs.
