Legendary trainer Jeff Fenech and champion Sydney boxer Brock Jarvis have reunited ahead of a big fight in Sydney on December 13.
Now the pair are back training with Fenech overseeing Jarvis’ six-round spar at Bondi Boxing Gym on Tuesday and another session at Bodypunch Boxing Gym, Lakemba on Wednesday.
Fenech was in Jarvis’ corner for all 22 fights, which included 21 wins.
Jarvis, 27, will return to the ring at super welterweight against former Australian champion Adrian Rodriguez on a No Limit Boxing card at Sydney’s The Star.
“Jeff and I had been talking – it just feels right,” Jarvis said.
“That’s how I want to progress. The hunger has always been there – it’s actually there more than ever.”
Hailing from the Shire, Jarvis has often been touted as a future world champion and looks unbelievably fit and toned ahead of the big fight.
“Brock and I sat down and spoke,” Fenech said. “I was out of boxing and it was Brock that got me interested again by the way he trains.
“Nothing has changed. Brock still has that great work ethic. We have to work together.
“I have to make Brock more defensive-minded, we have to change a few things but it’s not always that easy because we all get set in our ways.
“People will be trying to knock him out, that’s boxing.”
No Limit Boxing’s Matt Rose was thrilled Fenech and Jarvis had reconnected ahead of the Rodriguez bout.
“We have always had a lot of time for Brock and now that he is reunited with Jeff Fenech, it’s really exciting for boxing and sports fans. It’s a big comeback for Brock and something we are all really looking forward to,” Rose said.
“Brock will fight a rugged, tough opponent that has fought for the Australian title on five or six occasions and won it a couple of times.
“We know Brock has been out for so long so this is pretty a big decision to take a fight like this straight away. This will be a great test for Brock.
“We’re really excited for Jeff and Brock.”
Jarvis was teaching boxing classes during his wait for the Rodriguez fight.
Fenech is a four-time world champion and Hall of Fame inductee who is arguably the greatest boxer Australia has ever produced.
The December 13 card will also include Paris Olympian, Callum Peters.
