Lauren Jackson has done it all in basketball, so it should come as no surprise that she has bravely defied a fractured foot to play in the WNBL this season.

Australia’s greatest basketballer and Southside Flyers star Lauren Jackson has bravely played with a fractured foot for over a month.

News Corp can reveal Jackson has pushed through the pain since injuring her foot against Perth in round 5 in early December.

The injury won’t stop the 41-year-old from playing, starting with Wednesday night’s away clash against the Flames in Sydney.

“I suffered the injury in the game against Perth in early December and while it has required additional rehabilitation following each game, it has not, and will not stop me playing,” Jackson said.

“I have worked with our medical team and specialists, and it is an injury I am able to continue to play with, and importantly, there is no long-term issues.”

Flyers coach Cheryl Chambers confirmed Jackson had been playing with the injury and had not changed her role in the team or playing time over the last month.

“It is another example of the incredible dedication Lauren has to the game,” Chambers said.

“She has made an incredible comeback to the WNBL and while the injury is disappointing, thankfully she will continue to play.”

It’s widely tipped that Jackson will retire at the end of the season, bringing the curtain down on the finest basketball career we’ve ever seen in Australia.

The Flyers are currently in second position on the WNBL ladder, just two wins behind ladder leaders the Melbourne Boomers.

Jackson will also be part of history on February 4 when the Flyers host the Sydney Flames in the first ever WNBL game at Melbourne’s marquee venue, John Cain Arena.

Southside take on the Flames at the Quay Centre at Sydney’s Olympic Park from 5.30pm (AEDT) on Wednesday night.
