Liz Cambage has been keeping a low profile since her WNBA career imploded this season but has been pictured with a big name.

Liz Cambage has been pictured at Burning Man after keeping a low profile since announcing she was “stepping away” from the WNBA after her public divorce from the LA Sparks

Cambage’s WNBA career imploded after she ruffled feathers within the team for pinching a teammate’s number and blasting her team for not getting her the ball enough.

Cambage stormed out of the locker room after playing her last game for the Sparks against her former team the Las Vegas Aces in July.

“I can’t do this anymore. Best of luck to you guys,” she stated before leaving, as the exit from the team was revealed soon after.

Cambage announced in August she was going to “step away” from the WNBA.

Cambage is generally prolific on social media but since her exit from the Sparks has just one Instagram post, a video from a swimsuit shoot to thank fans for their birthday wishes.

But Cambage appeared at Burning Man, the desert celebration devoted to “community, participation, self-expression and self-reliance”. It also involves burning down a tall manlike structure.

A picture of Cambage was shared by DJ Diplo from his set at Burning Man, while Aussie fashion designer Pip Edwards also shared a snap of the basketball star.

Edwards dated former Aussie cricket star Michael Clarke but the pair broke up in December 2021.

The Cambage sighting comes after former Aussie NBA star Andrew Bogut said he hoped she was doing well via his podcast Rogue Bogues.

“I don’t know what she is doing, but I hope she’s in the right mental space,” Bogut said.

“I hope everything is OK. It can’t be easy leaving your team mid-season mentally.

“I hope she is doing well, but it is probably no surprise to each of us that this has transpired given what has happened in the past 18 months in her world.”

Bogut’s podcast co-host and former NBA video scout Mike Procopio added: “I don’t know her at all, but I have a couple of high-end WNBA clients and it just seems like she (Liz) is never happy.”

Cambage’s career has been plagued by controversy in recent years. She pulled out of the Opal’s Olympic campaign last year after allegations she used a racial slur towards Nigerian players during a warm-up game.

Opals captain Jenna O’Hea confirmed in May Cambage had told the Nigerian players: “Go back to your third world country.”

News Corp revealed she physically lashed out at Nigerian players and referred to her opponents as “monkeys”, which Cambage has denied.

The Australian has slammed the Opals and said she had “zero” interest in representing her country at this year’s World Cup.

In light of Cambage’s departure from the Sparks, footage emerged of an awkward press conference in July, where she is seated next to Sparks teammates, Nneka and Chiney Ogwumike.

In the video, the Ogwumike sisters — who are Nigerian — can be seen squirming uncomfortably and even rolling their eyes as Cambage speaks about her return from Covid-19.
