Tom Brady has shown once again why he is considered arguably the greatest quarterback of all time.

In a bloodbath display, Brady was only required for the opening half for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they erupted against the Detroit Lions to claim the 47-4 victory and secure a playoff spot for the first time since 2007.

Brady was at his all-time best as he threw four touchdown passes and racked up a staggering 348 passing yards on 22-27 attempts, in a first half rout. The most of his career for the first half and second-most of any half, per ESPN Statistics and Information.

As the teams walked off the field at the half, the Bucs held a 34-0 lead, its largest halftime lead in franchise history, with Brady showing no signs of slowing down despite playing in his 300th NFL game.

The Bucs (10-5) registered a franchise record 588 yards along with snapping the second-longest playoff drought, behind only the Cleveland Browns’ 18-year hiatus.

Brady picked apart the Lions defence with touchdown passes to Rob Gronkowski, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown as the Bucs displayed their full arsenal of weaponry.

The four touchdowns also saw Brady set the Bucs’ franchise record for most touchdowns thrown in one season with 36 to his name.

Social media was left in a spin as the six-time Super Bowl winning megastar put the league on notice as the playoffs draw closer.

The Buccaneers finish their regular season next week in a contest against the Atlanta Falcons. They currently sit in fifth place in the NFC, one game behind the New Orleans Saints in their NFC South division.

As the standings currently sit, the Buccaneers would take on the fourth placed Washington Football Team in the NFC wildcard weekend of the playoffs with a win lifting them into a NFC Divisional contest against the number one seed, currently the Green Bay Packers.
