Damian Lillard sends NBA fans wild with Kevin Durant photoshop post

It may be the NBA’s off-season but the action never stops with one star’s photoshopped upload sending the rumour mill into overdrive.

The Brooklyn Nets impending implosion has captured the eyes of the NBA trade market with rival teams waiting to pounce.

Kyrie Irving’s ongoing standoff with the Nets as they look to find some common ground over his playing future has led many to speculate Kevin Durant could also look to depart.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski however put a line through that idea, explaining Durant is contingent on seeing how the Nets could reshape if Irving does depart.

But one simple Instagram post has thrown a cat among the pigeons with Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard clearly attempting to lure Durant away.

A photoshopped image showing Lillard and Durant side-by-side in Blazers jerseys quickly took the NBA world by storm.

Fellow Blazers star Jusuf Nurkic jumped on the bandwagon, uploading the image to his Twitter account with the puzzle piece emoji.

Durant and the image quickly became a trending topic on Twitter on Sunday as basketball fans began to imagine what the pairing could accomplish.

With Lillard turning 32 in July, the Blazers championship window is beginning to close, and a trade for another superstar such as Durant would be a boon for Portland.

In the unlikely event Lillard and Durant become teammates, it still wouldn’t guarantee that the Blazers would be championship contenders.

To get Durant’s talents in Portland, the Blazers would have to part with some key pieces which could include either Nurkic or young star Anfernee Simons.

Then comes the contract side of things with both Lillard and Durant on max contracts which would seriously impact the Blazers ability to surround the duo.

Durant inked a four-year, $198m ($284 AUD) extension during last year’s off-season.

All eyes will remain locked in on the Brooklyn Nets as the Irving situation continues to unfold over the coming days and weeks. An outcome that will impact the NBA landscape.
