Although most high-profile athletes try to avoid the perils of social media, that’s not the case for three-time NBA champion Stephen Curry.

Speaking on his Rogue Bogues podcast, former Golden State Warriors teammate Andrew Bogut revealed the 32-year-old’s bizarre halftime ritual which would make most athletes shudder.

Bogut claimed that when Curry had a poor first half in the NBA, he would motivate himself by flicking through his mentions on social media.

“He’ll check his mentions at halftime, when he has a bad half,” Bogut said.

“It’s the craziest s**t I ever saw. Yeah, Steph, if he had a bad half, he would go on social media and then come out and drop 30.”

If recent form is anything to go by, the tactic seemingly works wonders for Curry.

During last week’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Curry inspired a stunning comeback after the Warriors trailed 64-48 at halftime.

After a quiet opening two quarters, the American scored 19 points in the second half including a late three-pointer snatch a one-point victory from the jaws of defeat.

Earlier this month, Curry dropped a career-high 62 points against Portland Trail Blazers, sending a clear message to his critics after the game.

“Cue the Jordan meme, right?” Curry told reporters. “I take all that personally.

“It was just an opportunity to assert my will on the game early and try to create some energy and get off on the right foot. As crazy as it sounds after the game, all we really wanted to do was win the first quarter and take it from there.

“We’ve got a winning spirit, we’ve just to work out how to do it consistently and against the good teams in the league.”

After an underwhelming start to the 2020/21 season, Curry has averaged 28.4 points per game, helping the Warriors climb back into the top eight in the Western Conference.

The Warriors will next take on the Phoenix Suns on Thursday afternoon AEDT.
