Territory footy fans have the perfect Christmas gift with tickets for the Gold Coasts Suns doubleheader and Melbourne’s Alice Springs match going on sale next week.
Tickets will go on sale from 12pm December 18 starting from $25 for adults, $15 concession and $10 for children aged three to 14.
The Suns, as part of their deal to play two games in Darwin until at least 2025, will play North Melbourne on May 11 and then clash with Geelong on May 16 in the Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
Gold Coast have plenty of Territory talent on their list including Ben Long, Joel Jeffrey and Malcolm Rosas.
Interstate footy fans travelling to the Top End will have an incentive to stay a little longer with the Territory’s largest music festival BASSINTHEGRASS set to take place on May 18.
Meanwhile, Melbourne have pencilled in their Alice Springs return for June 2 where they will take on Fremantle, and continue to build their relationship with the Red Centre.
Chief Minister and Major Events minister Natasha Fyles said the chance to see some of the best players in the country in Darwin was great for up-and-coming players.
“Some of Australia’s finest AFL players are from the Territory, and we’ll have the opportunity to see them play on home soil alongside their proud family and friends,” she said.
“Meanwhile, interstate footy fans can travel to the NT to support their team, then stay on to explore the region and enjoy our unique tourism experiences.”
Jeffrey said getting opportunity to return to Darwin each year was always special, particularly for the Territorians in the squad.
“We love playing at TIO Stadium in front of our Territory Suns members and supporters. Our record there speaks for itself with four wins in the last two seasons,” he said.
“It’s also an important opportunity for us to spend time with the local communities and play our part in hopefully inspiring the next generation.”
