Hugh Greenwood is prepared to walk to a Victorian club such as Hawthorn or St Kilda if he cannot secure the three-year deal contract he wants with his home club Adelaide.
But he will await what could be a stunning exodus of veteran talent from Adelaide before assessing whether to officially ask for a trade.

The hard-tackling midfielder has only been offered a two-year deal by Adelaide, with the Crows believing it would be irresponsible to make a longer offer given he turns 28 in May.
He would stay at the Crows for a three-year deal with a game-based trigger, but that deal seems unlikely to come.
His manager Michael Oakes on Sunday hit out at speculation he was asking $750,000 a season, with Adelaide and Greenwood close on the financial aspect of a deal well below that price.
But if Brad Crouch and Cam Ellis-Yolmen remain at Adelaide as speculation continues about their future, he will consider if St Kilda or Hawthorn would be a better fit.
The Hawks, Saints, Gold Coast and Brisbane are all clubs which have flagged interest in former NBL basketballer Greenwood.
He would likely be gettable for a later second-round pick, having kicked 11 goals from 14 games this year and averaged 11.4 contested possessions and six tackles.
Adelaide is preparing for the mother of all clear-outs as it moves on from the resignation of Don Pyke.
The Crows are adamant Rory Laird will remain but Eddie Betts, Josh Jenkins, Alex Keath, Sam Jacobs, Ellis-Yolman and Greenwood and are just some of the potential departures.
The club will not secure Essendon’s Ben Rutten as its Pyke replacement and potential applicant Justin Longmuir is now expected to concentrate on Pies duties until their season is over.

The Dockers are about to streamline a short-list of candidates for interviews from their sub committee but might have to wait until after the Grand Final to meet Longmuir again.
Collingwood continues to be a destination of choice, with the Herald Sun on Friday revealing Sydney ruckman Darcy Cameron wants to play with the Pies next year.

The 204cm Swans backup, 24, is seen as ready to flourish after the Pies beat Carlton, GWS and North Melbourne to the talented tall.
This year Cameron averaged 100 ranking points in 11 NEAFL games as well as 16.9 possessions, 9.9 contested possessions and 22 hit-outs.
But playing mostly as a pure ruckman he kicked only eight goals for the year, meaning it is unlikely he and Grundy would regularly play in the same side.
