Threat against Simon Goodwin on X included a picture of Goodwin’s car in an underground garage

Melbourne Demons coach Simon Goodwin has been threatened in a disturbing post shared on X moments after the St Kilda pulled off a miracle comeback win.

Melbourne Demons coach Simon Goodwin has been threatened on social media.

The threat – posted to social media network X, formerly known as Twitter – included posting a picture of Goodwin’s car in an underground garage.

The threat was posted minutes after St Kilda beat the Dees in a miraculous comeback with a post-siren goal.

A Demons spokesperson said the club was aware of the post and have reported it to the AFL Integrity Unit.

The AFL was contacted for comment.

It comes weeks after under-pressure Carlton coach Michael Voss was threatened via text message. The message said the coach’s life would end for the club’s poor on-field performance against Collingwood earlier this month.

The man who sent the text, a Magpies’ member, was banned from attending all football games and events for five years by the AFL and the Magpies.

“The club is very disappointed by the member’s actions which have resulted in a five-year ban from both the MCG and AFL – Collingwood will follow suit,” a Collingwood statement said at the time of the incident. “Collingwood will not tolerate any threats to officials, supporters or individuals involved in our great game – such conduct is unacceptable and not representative of the club or its values.”

The MCG has also barred the individual from all sporting events for the same period.

The AFL’s integrity team traced the number and was able to follow the man’s movements using CCTV footage from inside the stadium.
