GREATER Western Sydney full-forward Jon Patton purchased a property in Richmond on Saturday but remains committed to the Giants.
The Herald Sun can reveal Patton secured the $1.24m Melbourne home at an auction just hours before booting two goals in the loss to Sydney.
Patton’s manager Paul Connors attended the auction but on Monday declared there was no cause for concern for the Giants.
JAY CLARK, SAM LANDSBERGER AND GILBERT GARDINER REVEAL THE LATEST TRADE NEWS AND RUMOURS IN THE BIG DEAL PODCAST:
Connors said the market dictated players to eye investment properties in Melbourne.
Teammate Will Hoskin-Elliott recently purchased a home in Yarraville but, like Patton, is contracted at the Giants until 2017.
No. 1 pick Patton signed his current detail shortly after suffering his second ACL in a show of faith by the club.
The Giants’ forward stocks have diminished with top draft choice Tom Boyd traded to the Western Bulldogs after one season and Cameron McCarthy walking out this pre-season.
McCarthy has started training with WAFL club South Fremantle but new Giants football boss Wayne Campbell wants to entice the West Australian back to the club.
McCarthy is also contracted until 2017 but appears certain to request a trade to Fremantle for the second consecutive year.
