Patrick Dangerfield lost his crown as the No.1 scorer in SuperCoach in 2018 but he’s on track to be the most selected player in the game this season.

Dangerfield can be selected as a forward this year after spending 37 per cent of game time in the forward 50 in 2018.

INJURY: WHO CAN WE CALL ON TO COVER MITCHELL?

Midfielders who can be selected in the forward or backlines are worth their weight in gold in SuperCoach, and Dangerfield is almost certain to be the topscoring forward after averaging 122 points a game last season.

SuperCoach players haven’t missed the opportunity. Almost three-quarters of SuperCoach Stats users who have had access to the early team picker have Dangerfield in their side.

He’s clearly the most popular player of the pre-season, with high-priced guns Brodie Grundy, Patrick Cripps and Rory Laird also making the top five.

The bolter is Carlton recruit Will Setterfield, who has played only two AFL games since being selected with pick 5 in the 2016 draft by GWS.

He boasts an outstanding pedigree and after being held back by injuries is set to be unleashed in the Blues midfield from Round 1 — and he’s available at a bargain price.

Other potential bargains likely to feature in a lot of SuperCoach teams this year include Gold Coast defender Sam Collins, mature-age Fremantle midfielder Brett Bewley and Bulldog Ben Cavarra, who kicked 66 goals for Williamstown in the VFL over the past two seasons.

Max Gawn is a big slider, ranking as the 16th most selected player despite scoring the third-most points last year at an average of 128 a game.
