SuperCoach AFL 2024: Experts reveal their trades for round 13

The SuperCoach experts are using their trades this week to add some massive stars to their teams – and they aren’t all coming off the bye. See all their moves here.

SuperCoach AFL Buy, Hold, Sell Round 13

It’s time to turbo charge your SuperCoach team.

With a host of stars now bye free, rookies available for downgrades and money to spend, our experts are wasting no time making some big moves.

And when it comes to picking brand new premiums, they are taking different paths. Who is making the best calls?

See all their round 13 trades below.

AL PATON

OUT: Sam Clohesy, Jordon Sweet

IN: Wil Dawson, Luke Davies-Uniacke

The outs are easy, and with Dawson they give me enough cash to choose any player I like to complete my midfield. I briefly considered Adam Treloar as a huge POD, but sanity prevailed with too many good options who won’t miss a game in the next two weeks.

I could still change my mind with Lachie Neale and Josh Dunkley both high in consideration, but something keeps pulling back to LDU – his incredible post-bye run last year, his 116 five-round average, the fact I really wanted to pick him to start the year but he just missed out.

A first-up encounter with the Harley Reid-less Eagles is very enticing, and he plays West Coast again in round 22. In fact, looking at his fixture overall, the opportunity is there for another uber premo breakout from one of the most talented young mids in the comp.

Go North.

THE PHANTOM

OUT: Matt Crouch, Sam Darcy and Joe Richards

IN: Lachie Neale, Zac Fisher and Wil Dawson

If you’re trading, keep upgrading. My new motto made its debut in this week’s burning questions. And, besides having to trade out an injured Matt Crouch, that’s what I am doing again ahead of round 13.

Colby McKercher won’t be back this week – and it might be more than a few more weeks, too – so there’s no concern about Fisher’s role in North Melbourne’s defence. I had my doubts a few weeks ago, but after watching the Roos give him the ball in the back half, he’s a top-six forward in current form. And he’s available under $500k.

Coming off the bye, averaging 117 and in just five per cent of teams, Neale is the obvious replacement for Crouch. I haven’t thought twice. Having to move Crouch now actually helps with my preparation for the round 15 bye.

I’m using DPP to trade Wil Dawson into defence, to open up what might be a crucial swing, while at the same time giving me 22 players this round.

TIM MICHELL

OUT: Darcy Wilson, Sam Clohesy

IN: Jeremy McGovern, Wil Dawson

This is a week I could get away without trading but it feels like this year is all about SuperCoach cadence. The weather forecast for Perth on Saturday is grim but I am still forecasting another ton for Jeremy McGovern. He has 10 hundreds in 12 games this year and a plum role as one of the AFL’s best interceptors who also takes a few kick-ins. I can’t see him paying much attention to North Melbourne’s other forwards while Tom Barrass mans Nick Larkey on Saturday.

McGovern has the round 14 bye but that’s a problem for next week.

I don’t expect much from Wil Dawson, especially if it’s wet, but his DEF-FWD swing will be huge later in the year when trades are low, allowing me to play Zac Fisher at either end of the ground. These trades give me 19 or 20 players this week, 17 before trades for round 14 and 18 pre-trades for round 15. I’m flying close to the sun but love where my team is at with 11 trades left for the last 11 rounds.

DAN BATTEN

IN: Tim English and Wil Dawson

OUT: Harley Reid and Sam Clohesy

Don’t love the idea of bringing in a player with a bye coming up, but my round 15 is looking strong and English’s price tag is on the up. I have considered Brodie Grundy with a promising run over the next month, but Grundy would be the fourth player I’ve traded back in my side and I feel English will average more from here.

I was hoping Jacob Blight would get a run but I am going with Dawson for now pending teams. I may end up taking a punt on Billy Dowling or Jack Hutchinson if he isn’t named.

PATCH

Out: Sam Clohesy, Darcy Wilson

In: Harry Sheezel, Leek Aleer

Harry Sheezel has always been in my side. What are you TALKING about? Good one, champ. Haha. Gosh you’re a funny one, saying I traded him out a month ago. Ha, would I do that? I mean come on now. Do I like like the sort of chump to do that?

... actually, don’t answer that.

DOS (PHANTOM JNR)

OUT: Harley Reid, Colby McKercher, Sam Clohesy

IN: Harry Sheezel, Zac Fisher, Chad Warner

BANG. A cool $550k in the bank, a gross round 12 score in the rear-view mirror, and here we are. I finally get to bring in Harry Sheezel after a brutal stretch to start the season. He now comes in at a bargain price after a couple of down scores adjusting to his new midfield role.

Joining Sheez is Zisher. Under $500k and boasting the top three-round average of any forward, Zac Fisher has inherited North’s half-back role – the juiciest role in recent SuperCoach memory.

I’m also bringing in the form player of the competition: Chad Warner. Recency bias? Perhaps. But I believe in Chad. Confidence is sky high all-around in the Swans’ rampaging midfield and he is a massive reason why they are top of the ladder.

Let’s get to McKercher. I’ve held this long, why jump off now? I just can’t wait any longer to hear news of when he’ll be right. I’m already holding Izak Rankine and have more than my fair share of red dot rookies. I need points on field and I need them now!
